The Hag This is a latex mask, completely wearable, that was designed, sculpted and cast to create this life size, audio-animatronic witch for Nightmare Hallow Halloween Rentals © The finished product stood 6' tall and aprx. 3' wide with a 2x3 custom built cauldron and flickering fire. ANIMATIONS (Face) The understructure of the face was gutted Talking Douglas Fir Christmas Tree decoration with the mask glues over it. The hag, as a result, had glowing green eyes and a moving mouth that was hooked up to a custom recorded soundtrack of her casting spells into her brew. (Head) Her entire head was mounted on an old, oscillating fan motor which caused the head to rotate back and forth repeatedly. (Pot) Mounted within her pot was a disco ball motor that attached to her stirring stick. With her hands and arms attacked to the stick, it appeared as though she was stirring the pot when activated. Beneath the cauldron was a small XG3 Fog machine set to go off at the end of every spell, shooting large stream of smoke out of the pot and into the air. With a green light based inside of the pot, the smoke appeared a sickly green color. (Fire) The fire's embers where created with LED lights placed into foam that was sculpted to look like wood. This created a glowing effect of a fire boiling whatever was inside the pot. (RIGHT: A recorded process of the making of the face of the hag.) |
